Craniosacral Therapy

I am excited to share a bit with you about a modality that has captivated my curiosities.

Developed by osteopathic physicians in the 1800's, Craniosacral Therapy has been shown to help with a myriad of conditions.

It is a gentle yet effective method, appropriate for everyone from infants to elders.

CST is useful for concerns such as depression, anxiety, sleep disturbances, stress, pain, migraines, concussion, stroke, ptsd, traumatic brain injury, vertigo, tinnitus, TMJ disorder, chronic ear and sinus infections, loss of smell, neurological conditions etc...

Infants can benefit from this modality too! CST can help with oral fascial strain, torticolis,  traumatic birth, breastfeeding difficulties, colic, reflux, sleep disturbances, digestive trouble, retained reflexes, and the list goes on...

This bodywork is very precise and focused, yet always viewed through a whole-body perspective.

Supporting a therapeutic release of these areas of restriction allows the client's own innate healing capacities to shine through.

The style of treatment differs a bit from massage. A typical session takes place while lying on the massage table, occasionally while seated or standing, with the client remaining clothed. The therapist only exerts five grams of pressure, or less, and thus it is a very light touch technique. At times, we may work inside the mouth using a gloved finger. During the treatment, biological rhythms and patterns are observed, specifically the pulse of the cerebrospinal fluid as it flows around the brain and spinal cord.

Using attuned, compassionate, hands-on skills, these reverberations are used to locate areas of restriction, often within the deeper layers of connective tissues (or fascia) in the body.

I find that these techniques are great at addressing those long-held patterns of movement (or lack there of).

Aligning with the brain and nervous system in this way, to re-establish a new "normal", often helps achieve a more lasting change. Working synergistically can help the body to find greater equilibrium.

True healing can then take place.
